About This Blog
What this is about
I write about books, writing,
teaching, and life, because we all definitely go through that. Henry Adams
wrote a book inspirationally called The
Education of Henry Adams. In it, he wrote the funny line, “Although everyone
cannot be a Gargantuan-Napoleon-Bismark and walk off with the great bells of
Notre Dame, every one must bear his own universe, and most persons are
moderately interested in learning how their neighbors have managed to carry
theirs.” Therefore, watch me as I bear my own universe and maybe my method will
resonate with you. In other words, I’m a person living life and so are you…so
read my blog.
What I am about
As I write in my bio, I am a reader,
becoming an English teacher, and striving to be a writer. The reason I’m
interested in anything is because above all else I like reading, learning, and
hearing about how other people think. Whether people think differently because
of how they grew up, what time period they’re from, or they just have a
different perspective I love hearing about it. I’m from a city/town of farmers
gradually becoming the greater extended suburbs of larger cities and
unironically love living anywhere that fits the moniker “Pennsyltucky”. Besides
that, I think I’m funny (see above: “inspirationally” written with
guaranteed-laugh-inducing sarcasm), but you are not at all obligated to agree
with me on that or anything for that matter. While I’m not 100% normal, I never
claimed to be, as that would be criminally deceptive. I also probably most
likely use use “-ly” words too much.
Why I Started
Sure everyone has heard from
their mom or nearly anyone to, "Do what you love,"
and, "Follow your dreams," but that doesn't make money. So we
come up with a realistic plan and push off the dream for
"later," and "when I have time," whatever those mean. It
still isn't "later", unfortunately, but one way or another I'm
going to make it "later." I love books more than any material
thing. Second to reading books is my love of writing them. After some
quick internet searching, I found that it is recommended that authors have
a blog; hence this website. One way or another, Julia will write.
Schedules
...are overrated and not feasible at this point.
